A story… Recently, I woke up and I felt off. About 20 minutes into reorganizing my bathroom closet, I realized that I was in hard-core avoidance mode. As I weeded out the slimified old lotion bottles, I knew it was time.

I sat down and cried. I didn’t judge or question myself. I journaled. THEN, that afternoon, I connected with two friends to process the meltdown.

crying is so hard. that’s why god invented brownies.

Curiosity may have killed the cat, but…

Hello my joyful, beautiful friend! Oh. My. Goodness. it’s been too long. I feel I have so much to catch you up on, but first things first. My curiosity is killing me! What’s going on with you??

How are you? And how are you taking care of yourself this new year? Have you made any new goals, dreams, or resolutions you’d like to share? Have you started noticing the degrees of separation between you and getting Covid are much less than between you and Kevin Bacon? 😉 Me, too. It’s been a time where I have been grateful for my curiosity.

Because, my beautiful friend, there are so many fruitful things that come out of a habit of curiosity. Being open to new ideas. Putting on your courageous panties and walking forward. Or taking care of your needs in new ways. Allowing all the parts of you to be. (Even those you are, like, “why me, God?”)

Speaking of whining to God, I’ve had this ongoing discussion with my wife lately. To point out the thousands of little changes I’ve made in my life over the past decade to allow for me to be in my life. Blankies during meditation. Stuffed teddy bears on vacation. No to Christmas mom-suicide. And it all started with curiosity. Making room for you in your life isn’t selfish. It’s what the Universe wants.

But, you say, if the Universe/God/Higher Power wanted me to do that, it would be easy! So, I ask you, is there anything worthwhile you’ve ever done that was effortless? I bet not. We’re made to grow into ourselves and our understanding. To be open and curious.

So, my dear, my wish for you. May you embrace curiosity as a way to shine the light on all parts of your beautiful, evolving, messy, limitless, sometimes-troubled, sometimes-doubting, soul. And may you allow all your gifts to have a home in your heart. No. Matter. What.

And if you would like to hear more about curiosity…
