Does the prospect of practicing gratitude annoy you? Gratitude used to bother the crap outta me, to be honest. A voice in my head was like “so what? it’s not like gratitude puts the food on the table, drives the kids around, or helps me deal with my ex.” Right?
ahhhhh, therein lies the secret sauce of gratitude.
Why I was never grateful until well after I got over my internal objections and tried it. Because it was too high on my life-fluff-o-meter. But gratitude has more power than fluff.
Gratitude, practiced fully, can help you come from a place of abundance, positivity, and resilience. Which helps in every corner of our lives. Communication. Relationships. Career. Everything.
The secret to a full practice? We are only grateful for our gifts, lessons, and path when we walk and feel the dark. Like we aren’t going to feel grateful for the sun on our face quite as much as after a long, cold winter. We aren’t going to feel grateful for the calm in our heart if we haven’t traversed the terrain of spinning out.
I have a gratitude reminder of a lucky penny I carry around in my pocket. One side: life’s challenge. Side two: lesson I can learn. The glue that binds: gratitude for both.
How did I get to gratitude instead of annoyance? Time and a BulletProof Mindset*, which is something I teach my clients and use myself.
