To my fellow Americans

A poem, a Dream, a Dare, of freedom.

Those
flawed, arrogant,
sometimes homosexual,
often eloquent
souls
we call
   The Founders.

Remember their words
and be done.

Those
brave, traitorous,
sometimes black,
often ill-equipped
souls
we call
  the Continental Army.

Remember their sacrifice
and be done.

Those
independent, aggresive
sometimes male,
often over-educated
souls
we call
  The Feminists.

Remember their climb
and be done.

Those
hopeful, hopeless,
sometimes fed,
often beaten
souls
we call
  The Slaves.

Pay your reparations
and be done.

Because,
my fellow Americans,
today is
not a day
to sit
and eat
and remember.

And forget
by tomorrow.

Because,
my fellow Americans,
today is
a day
to stand
and believe
and dream.

For
Our Founders
Our Soldiers
Our Feminists
Our Slaves

were,
first and foremost,
Dreamers.

They fought
and bled
and walked
and dreamed
a freer future,

An American future.

So,
my fellow Americans,
Decendants of the Dreamers,
who bleed,
and work,
and toil,

Can you muster
your colors,
your courage,
your infinite potential,

and Honor them with
your American Dream?

Can you Dare to Dream?

Can you Dare to speak your Dream?

Can you Dare to feel your future?

And Dare to believe,
my fellow Descendants of the Dreamers,

that any future is possible?

What’s your dream?

You can only unlock your unlimited potential if you dream it. If you believe it. If you feel it. What is your future American dream? Can you share it? What does it look like? How do you feel in your American dream?

How can you believe in and honor your Inner Dreamer today?
